Discover the Secrets to Losing a Beer Belly
Yes, it’s true. All those attractive people out there that you see on TV on in magazines are in shape because they regularly exercise and eat right in order to keep their bodies looking good. If you want to lose the beer belly, doesn’t it make sense to do what they are doing? Yes, it may take some effort, but in the end it doesn’t have to be as difficult or challenging as you might think.
When most folks want to get rid of their beer belly, they will instinctively take up jogging or start doing a bunch of sit ups or ab crunches. This makes sense at first glance. Running will help burn extra calories, which is helpful, but unfortunately the crunches and sit ups won’t really help all that much at all aside from strengthening the muscles that already lurk underneath those inches of fat. That’s right, you may even get a set of six pack abs, but they will be hidden under the fat unless you do something else to lose the beer belly.
So then if targeting you gut with ab exercises isn’t going to work, what are you to do?
Start by cutting back on drinking beer. I know, I know. This may seem like sacrilege to you! But isn’t that what got you in this mess in the first place? You don’t have to completely eliminate beer from your life, but the more you cut back, the faster we can fix the problem.
If you want to lose the beer belly, know that it is really a two part procedure. It will take diet (the first part) and exercise (the second part). Sure, you can do only one part or the other. Just don’t expect results to be all that great. Yes, exercise might burn more calories, but if you don’t eat less calories in the first place you may not be burning more than you eat. In effect, all this will do is only slow down the growth of your belly. If you really want to lose the beer belly, do both diet and exercise.
So…the first part — Take up a healthy diet. You need to start paying attention to what you eat. Give your body all the nutrients it needs. These include proteins, complex carbohydrates, fiber, and vitamins and minerals. Once you start fueling your body with what it needs, your body will start burning and metabolizing all the fat more efficiently.
The second part — Exercise. You’ll want to take up both aerobic exercise (aka cardio) and strength training (aka resistance training). Aerobic exercise like running, calisthenics, or other cardio will help you burn excess calories and strengthen your heart and build your physical stamina. Strength training will help boost your metabolism and sculpt your body into something you’ll be proud to show off at your next pool party.
If you want to lose the beer belly, you’ll have to change your lifestyle and build some new habits. It may be challenging at first and you might occasionally slip back into your old ways, but don’t beat yourself up over it and get back on the horse and you’ll eventually lose the beer belly. Good luck!
