Top 5 List of Food to Help Lose Weight
Here is my top 5 list of food to help lose weight. Incorporate these foods into your life and you should start to notice a healthy and gradual weight loss that will leaving slimmer and feeling great about yourself.
Discover 3 Foods That Help Burn Fat
Salads – No surprise that salads are a great food to help lose weight. Vegetables such as lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. are excellent low calorie foods.
Be careful though. Not all salads are created equal. Some fat food companies sell salads as a “healthy” alternative to their usual greasy meals, but when you add up the calories you may be shocked to discover that their salad actually is less healthy than their burgers. Always get your nutritional facts.
Grapes – Grapes are an excellent low calorie food. Plus, like most fruits, they are high in fiber, which keeps you feeling full. The small, compact size makes them a great snack for munching on and they’re perfect for taking with you to work.
Pretty much all fruits are good for you though. Fruit does contain sugar, but unlike other sugars, it can be easily digested without being stored as fat, and it won’t give you that “sugar rush” followed by the inevitable crash that a twinkie will.
Potatoes – This one usually surprises a few people as a food to help lose weight. You have to realize that potatoes themselves aren’t the problem, it’s the unhealthy ways that they are often prepared.
Of course those greasy, salty french fries aren’t good for you, and those fatty, preservative-packed potato chips aren’t exactly having a slimming effect on your physique. Instead, try a healthy baked potato topped with some pepper or some mashed potatoes with a splash of lime.
Water – Not really a food, but water is what many people consider the secret to weight loss. Most people don’t drink enough water, and they know it. Soda and coffee only dehydrate you further and do not actually quench your thirst. Many people actually mistake the thirst sensation for hunger. This can result in many unnecessary handfuls of unhealthy snacks that could easily be avoided by drinking more water.
Chocolate – If all you do is deprive yourself, you’re only setting yourself up for an inevitable binge. If you want to stop binge eating you need to give yourself a small reward now and then. Get a small chocolate bar or other candy to satisfy your sweet tooth and keep you from going crazy with food cravings. Make sure it’s small though, you don’t want to go overboard and sabotage all the progress you’ve made.
Avoid snack food to help lose weight, though. In fact, it’s probably a good idea to just avoid that aisle completely when you go to the grocery store. No matter how much we tell ourselves that we’ll just get one bag of chips or one pack of cookies and eat it slowly and moderately, it never really happens that way.
Truth be told, these giant food companies purposefully make their foods addictive. Many people even think that the chemicals they use actually make you hungrier so you crave more of their food (and hence buy more of it and make them richer). Don’t be their personal ATM machine and just avoid temptation.
So this is my top 5 list of food to help lose weight. Make sure you remember to eat everything in good portions. Overeating is never good for you, no mater what you may be eating.
